A NeW SMART HOME CONNECTIVITY SOLUTION
FROM LYNX TECHNOLOGY
If you are a manufacturer of routers, gateways, set-top-boxes (STBs) or NAS devices and would like to participate in the growing Smart Home market in an easy way, SmartLynx is our smart home connectivity solution, which includes a rules engine, that will effectively make your product "smart home ready".
The Smart Home Market is Growing and Interoperability is the Key
According to a report published by Markets and Markets in 2016, the global Smart Home market size was $47B in 2015. The Smart Home market is projected to grow to $122B by 2022. In a report by BI Intelligence in 2016, the most important technology hurdle for mass adoption of the Smart Home is Interoperability. This is where Lynx can help you capitalize on this rapidly growing market. SmartLynx 1.0 is a lean yet powerful software solution, developed 100% in house by Lynx, to allow customers of device manufacturers to easily coordinate and control the features of their products, to interoperate with smart home devices and services.
SmartLynx 1.0 is Available Now for Routers, Gateways, STBs and NAS
Available January 2017, SmartLynx 1.0 comes in Linux, Mac and Windows versions and enables consumer use cases involving digital videos, photos and music. The Linux version can be embedded by OEMs into their devices, such as wireless routers, gateways, STBs and NAS devices. Since SmartLynx 1.0 is integrated with the IFTTT service, consumers can create IFTTT applets (“if-then” rules) that are connected to other smart home devices and services. These applets can trigger SmartLynx to automatically play songs, photos and videos to any Smart TV or speaker on their home network, either directly or through Apple TV, Fire TV, Chromecast or any DLNA-enabled media renderer. Also, through integration with our Twonky Server, consumers can beam photo slideshows and music playlists to the same devices. In addition, they can store any file to the device where the SmartLynx engine is installed.
As SmartLynx 1.0 is integrated with IFTTT, end users can create applets (“if-then rules) that are connected to smart home devices and services. These applets can automatically trigger SmartLynx 1.0 to play songs, beam photos and store files to connected media devices.
This is Just The Beginning
Lynx, a member of the Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF), plans future releases in 2017 of SmartLynx which will allow consumers to discover other smart home devices in the home (e.g. thermostats, lights, locks, cameras etc.), across a range of smart home protocols (e.g. Zigbee, Z-Wave, Thread, DLNA etc.). Among other things, later versions will include our own rules engine that will enable consumers to easily create "scenes" that combine smart devices to orchestrate a particular service for the consumer. For example a scene might be called "bedtime", in which lights are automatically turned off, the dishwasher is turned on, the alarm system is armed, and the thermostat is adjusted for a good night's sleep. SmartLynx will ensure reliable interoperability with these smart devices, whether the consumer is at home or on-the-go, that will enable a gateway, router, NAS or STB to be a central smart home hub.
